How to Choose the Right “IT” Company in Fort Lauderdale

Every “IT” company in Fort Lauderdale will tell you they’re proactive, responsive, and security-focused. The problem is, so will the bad ones. Here’s how to actually tell the difference.

Ask what happens when they miss something

Every provider will talk about their monitoring tools. Few will tell you what happens when those tools fail because they do, sometimes.

Ask them: “What was the last major issue you missed, and how did you handle it?”

A good provider will have a real answer. A bad one will say it’s never happened.

Ask for data, not promises

“We respond in under 15 minutes” sounds great. But is that the average or the target? Is that for critical issues or all tickets?

Ask for their actual ticket resolution data from the last 90 days. Any provider that tracks their work can pull this in minutes. If they can’t, that tells you something.

Ask who you’ll actually talk to

Some IT companies sell you a relationship with a senior engineer and then hand you off to a rotating help desk where nobody knows your setup.

Ask: “Who will be my main point of contact? Will they know my environment, or will I explain my setup every time I call?”

This matters more than any certification on their wall.

Ask what they won’t do

This one catches people off guard. Every provider has a scope. Some handle everything. Some handle technical controls but not policy writing. Some do infrastructure but not application support.

The honest ones will tell you exactly where their responsibility ends and yours begins. If everything is “yes, we do that,” either they’re enormous, or they’re overpromising.

At Level5, we’re upfront about this: we handle the technical controls. The security configurations, the monitoring, the infrastructure. For business-side controls, we provide templates and guidance. If you need deeper strategic oversight, that’s a vCISO conversation. We’d rather set clear expectations on day one than disappoint you on day ninety.

Check if they’re actually local

“We serve Fort Lauderdale” can mean their office is in Doral and they’ll send someone in 48 hours if you need on-site help. Or it can mean they’re down the road.

Ask where their closest technician is. Ask how quickly they can get someone on-site in an emergency. In South Florida, “local” should mean local.

The real test

Here’s the best question nobody asks:

“Can I talk to a client who almost left you?”

Any provider can give you their happiest reference. The real test is how they handled a relationship that got rocky. If they can connect you with a client who had a problem, and that client stayed, that’s the provider you want.

Choosing an IT company in Fort Lauderdale isn’t about who has the best website or the longest feature list. It’s about who gives you straight answers, shows you real data, and tells you what they won’t do before you sign anything.
